In Memory of Lady

Some dogs leave paw prints on your heart that never fade, no matter how short their journey may be.

Lady was one of those dogs.

At just nine weeks old, Lady came to Woof & Willow Puppy Rescue alongside her siblings, Cassidy and Jessee, after being transferred from another rescue in New Mexico. Like so many puppies we meet, Lady deserved a long life filled with toys, treats, adventures, and a family to call her own.

Instead, she was dealt a battle no puppy should have to fight.

Shortly after arriving in our care, Lady became critically ill with parvovirus, a devastating and highly contagious disease that affects unvaccinated puppies. From the moment she showed symptoms, we did everything we could to give her a chance. Around-the-clock care, medications, fluids, special food, countless sleepless nights, and endless prayers became part of her daily routine.

Lady fought harder than any puppy ever should have to.

Despite every effort, her tiny body could not overcome the disease.

Losing a puppy is one of the hardest parts of rescue work. It's easy to celebrate the happy endings—the adoption photos, the family updates, the success stories. But behind every success are the dogs we couldn't save. The ones who take a piece of our hearts with them.

Lady was loved every single day she was with us.

She knew gentle hands, warm blankets, full bellies, and people who cared deeply about her. She was never alone. She was never forgotten. And she will always be part of the Woof & Willow family.

As we mourn Lady, we continue fighting for puppies like Cassidy and Jessee, who are still battling parvovirus. Their journey is not over, and neither is our commitment to helping the most vulnerable dogs who need us.

Lady's story reminds us why rescue matters. Every puppy deserves a chance, even when the outcome isn't what we hope for. Every life matters, no matter how brief.

Run free, sweet girl.

You were loved beyond measure, and you will never be forgotten.

Forever our Lady. ❤️
